The residents of one of the worst Maoist-affected Dantewada districts of Chhattisgarh are getting free of cost quality healthcare facilities near their homes under the ‘Mukhyamantri Shehri Slum Swasthya Yojana’.

The scheme was started by the state government with an aim of making healthcare accessible and affordable for people living in urban slums.

Now, the people residing in urban slums no longer need to wander or visit hospitals and wait in long queues for minor ailments.

They are getting treatment and medical test facilities through the dedicated mobile medical unit near their doorsteps.

People living in slums are getting benefits of the scheme

Under this scheme, a total of 02 mobile medical units are being operated in a total of 05 urban bodies of the district. People are getting treatment for seasonal fever, malaria, anemia, TB, cold, cough, diabetes, and blood pressure.

This is saving both time and money for the people living in slum settlements. Besides, their health is also being improved as they are getting treatment at the right time.

Under this scheme, as many as 429 camps have been organized so far benefitting nearly 17,000 people. Medical tests of about 5,140 people have been done and free-of-cost medicines have been distributed to 15035 patients.

Under this scheme, 41 types of pathology tests and 251 types of generic medicines are provided free of cost.
